Life Cycle Analysis video review

After watching the assigned videos i feel that the most interesting thing i took out of it was from the clip on light weighting, they explained how you can look at a problem in an unconventional manner to find a solution that may not have been the most obvious but can lead to a dramatic shift in thinking. The example they used of designing a bicycle showed that redesigning the frame may be the most obvious solution to light weighting the design maybe making a bike that is shared by many or made from used parts is better for the environment  and the best use of materials in the long run.
The clip on whole systems and lifecycle thinking also made a few interesting points but the one i found the most interesting was again about looking outside the obvious solutions and looking at the whole process to find at what points improvements can be made.
The third clip that i found to have a relevant message for me was  on "Improving Product Lifetime", i am disappointed that more products are not designed for repair or repurpose after initial use as this would not only reduce the amount of goods going to landfill but also allow people to keep products that they really like and not have to frequently replace them. If a product was more expensive to purchase but you knew it would either last longer or could be upgraded/repaired to extend that life even longer then i think it consumers would be willing to invest in the product of cheaper more "disposable" items.
